The former yuck leader, Daniel Bloomwon the Oscar Best original music for the film “The Brutalist” at the Oscar 2025 awards ceremony.

The composer, who recently won BAFTA Award for his music in the dramatic film that outlines the life of the fantastic Hungarian architect, Lazlo Toth, a role that gave Edrien Brody the Oscar First male role. The character played by Brody moves to the US as surviving the Holocaust.

Daniel Bloomberg’s work was a candidate, as well as the music of the films “Conclave”, “Emilia Pérez”, “Wicked” and “The Wild Robot”.

Receiving the award, the English composer described his creative relationship with director Brandi Corbett, who commissioned him to write the music for his third film after collaborating with Scott Walker in the first two.

“I’ve been an artist for 20 years since I was a teenager” said “And when I met Brady I met my artistic sister soul”. He thanked the “hard workers, radical musicians” who helped perform his music for the film.

Earlier this year, the musician told Pitchfork that when the film was in the process of postparagraph, he and the audio team was watching her screenings with Corbett and that she had a problem every time she watched the film, she was crying in the end.

Daniel Bloomberg was a guitarist and leader of the Indie Rock band Yuck, from which he left in 2013 to focus a solo project. A few years later, in 2021, the band announced its dissolution.
