Drake spent more than R$5m in strip club after deaths at Astroworld

Just one day after the tragedy that killed nine trampled people at a music festival in Houston, Texas, rapper Drake, 35, who attended the event as a guest, held a night of festivities with his team at a strip club and would have spent around US$1 million (R$5.4 million).

The information is from the New York Post, which cites posts on social networks that have already been deleted. According to the publication, piles of money appeared scattered on the floor, while women took the bills and thanked the rapper. The club, called Area 29, even thanked Drake for his presence in his profile.

Drake, who performed at the Astroworld festival, took three days to speak out about the tragedy. “I have spent the last few days trying to understand this devastating tragedy. My heart is broken for the families and friends of those who have lost their lives and those who are suffering,” he said.

In all, nine people died and more than 100 were trampled injured during the performance. According to The Sun newspaper, more than 100 lawsuits have already been filed against Travis Scott, who was responsible for the festival, the promoter of the LiveNation event, and Drake, who presented himself as a guest.

According to law enforcement officials, the episode, which took place on the 5th, happened after fans started pushing each other towards the stage. After about 30 minutes, confusion escalated and what Houston Police Chief Executive Larry Satterwhite called a “mass incident” ensued.

Attorney Ed McPherson, who represents Scott, told TMZ he is devastated by the tragedy because it happened in his hometown, and since then the rapper has been recluse in his home. “The fact that it happened to Houston, who he loves, and that there are so many people around, is particularly devastating.”

Travis has canceled his upcoming Vegas show this weekend and a petition is growing online to stop his main event at Coachella. The lawyer says that introducing himself is the last thing on Travis’s mind at the moment and supporting the victims’ families.
