Taraji P. Henson will be the host of the 31st edition of the charity gala organizing the Foundation for the AIDS (Amfar – The Foundation for Aids Research) research and takes place each year along with the Cannes Festival.

The glamorous event will take place on May 22 at the Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc, in the city of Antim, France.

“I am excited to support Amfar in this year’s Charity Gala in Cannes,” the award -winning actress said in a statement. “AIDS has not been eliminated and we must continue united to support lives that saves lives and is our greatest hope for finally ending this deadly disease,” he added.

The Amfar, co -founder of which was the late Elizabeth Taylor who organized the first gala in 1993 at the Moulin de Mougins, is one of the world’s leading non -profit organizations in the world dedicated to supporting AIDS research, HIV prevention.

The evening will also include an appearance by Duran Duran, marking their return to Gala since 2013.

“We are very excited to have the emblematic Duran Duran with us and grateful for their long support in our work,” said AMFAR CEO Kevin Robert Frost. “We are also happy that the only taragi P. Henson will have the role of the hostess,” he added.

In addition, there will be auction of luxury objects and fine artworks led by Simon de Pury auction, as well as a Carine Roitfeld fashion show.

The appearance of Duran Duran at the Cannes event is their only concert in France for this year. In June, the legendary band will launch its European tour, which will include stops in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Finland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Denmark, Italy, Germany and Spain, according to Variety.
