Actress Christina Applegate was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis by 2021 and, in the last three years, has been hospitalized for more than 30 times because of the symptoms of the disease. In addition to severe body aches, she feels a constant discomfort that hinders her routine.
In a recent interview with the Messy Podcast, she detailed the symptoms: “I have vomiting and diarrhea. Many times, all at the same time. Doctors have done exams, subjected my body to so much radiation in tomography and only now I know what is happening,” Applegate began. “Multiple sclerosis can cause body organs to slow down, causing them no longer to work normally.”
Christina Applegate explained that she calls this urgent and simultaneous need to go to the “fight club” bathroom inside her own body. “I still have to deal with difficulty of mobility, fatigue and intestinal incontinence,” lamented the actress. She also warned of the importance of consulting a doctor and paying attention to any health problem.
Multiple sclerosis is a neurological, chronic and autoimmune disease, where the body’s defense cells attack the central nervous system itself, causing brain and marrow injuries. The main symptoms include extreme fatigue, imbalance and muscle cramps. Some patients may also have memory problems, numbness, blurred vision and difficulty controlling urination. There is no cure for the disease, but there are treatments.
