Prince Harry is no longer a Patron of Sibale, a charity founded by him to help children and young people with HIV and AIDS in Lesoto and Botsuana.

The breakup took place in the midst of a dispute between Harry and the president’s chairman Sophie Chandauka.

Harry founded the sympathy in honor of his mother, Princess Diana, in 2006, nine years after she died in a car accident in Paris. SIBALE means “Don’t forget me” in the Soto language.

In addition to Harry, the institution’s co-founder, Prince Seeiso do Lesoto, and the curators’ counsel, left the syrup. They were denounced by the chairman of the Britain Charity Commission.

On Wednesday (26), the princes Harry and Seeiso sent an official note to the British media in which they state: “It is devastating that the relationship between the curators of the charity and the chairman of the council has broken irreparably, creating an unsustainable situation.”

The curators acted in the institution’s best interest in asking the president to leave, the joint statement said. “Although we are no more patrons, we will always be its founders and we will never forget what this institution is able to achieve when it is under the right care,” he added.

Harry, who lives in the US, stopped working as a member of the British royal family in 2020, but kept his charity projects in Africa.

The sympathy said it did not receive official waiver from its patrons. In a statement, Sophie Chandauka said she would continue to play her role.

“There are people in this world who behave as if they are above the law, mistreat people, then make victims and use the press, who despise, to harm those who have the courage to challenge their conduct,” she said.

The president added that behind the “narrative of victim and fiction” is “the story of a woman who dared to denounce questions of bad governance, weak executive management, abuse of power, intimidation, harassment, misogyny, misogynoir [combinação de machismo e racismo contra mulheres negras] – and the following follow -up. “

The Charity Commission said it was aware of the concerns about the governance of the sympathy. “We are evaluating the issues to determine appropriate regulatory measures,” said one spokesman.
