Jean-Claude Van Damme, 64, was accused of having sex with trafficked Romanian women. A criminal complaint about the case, which would have occurred 10 years ago in Cannes, France, was recently registered in the Romanian direction for the investigation of organized crime and terrorism against the Belgian actor, star of films such as “The Great White Dragon” (1988) and “Street Fighter” (1994), among others.
According to the prosecution, Van Damme would have consciously involved with women trafficked by a criminal team led by Morel Bolea, a Romanian businessman and owner of a modeling agency. The alleged victims would have been offered as “a gift” to the actor. Several people linked to the group are also under investigation for sex trafficking.
Lawyer Adrian Cuculis, who represents one of the victims, currently 26 (and was underage at the time), told People magazine that women “were vulnerable, with the suspicion that they were explored.” The representatives of Van Damme and Diicot were sought by the report, but did not respond.
The case is part of a broader investigation on trafficking in persons and minors, which began in 2020 by the Public Prosecutor of Romania.
