Ruth Moreira, mother of singer Marília Mendonça, said in an interview with Fantástico (Globo), last Sunday night (14), that her grandson, Léo, almost two years old, is the reason she is being strong after the loss of her daughter . The artist died on the 5th, in a plane crash that killed five people.

“I cried a lot for two days, but I have my grandson if he sees me crying he’ll despair. I would howl, you know? Screaming inside, but then I’d wash my eyes and go downstairs to play with him, throw me on the dog, play ball” , she said, who will now have custody of her grandson shared with the boy’s father, singer Murilo Huff, 26.

Ruth said that Marília used to talk loudly and was bossy in the house, which sometimes led to fights with her younger brother, João Gustavo, “but all with a lot of love”. According to her, the pandemic period was very good for the singer to stay with her son, a time that would perhaps be shorter without the suspension of concerts.

Little Leo still doesn’t understand his mother’s death. Grandmother and uncle say they will tell little by little, with stories like the little starlet. Marília’s things also remain as she left them, including objects collected from the plane that crashed, such as the notebook that the singer used to write her compositions.

“I’m going to stay strong and don’t mess with her little things,” said Ruth, who said she kills the longing with visits to her daughter’s room, to sniff the singer’s pillow or clothes. “If I hadn’t had the worst day of my life, there it is. The moment is one of pain, but it passes and I will miss it,” he said.
