Father Fábio de Melo ‘adopts’ Reborn Doll with Down Syndrome in the USA

During a recent trip to the United States, Father Fábio de Melo lived a curious and exciting experience, according to the religious. Visiting Macrobaby, famous doll maternity located in Orlando, Florida, he adopted a baby reborn with Down syndrome – and shared everything with a good mood on social networks.

The choice of the doll had a special meaning: it was a tribute to his mother, Ana Maria de Melo, who died in 2021, victim of Covid-19. “For years, I presented my mother with several dolls. She liked it, took care, was a form of affection. Today I adopt this one for her,” said the priest.

On site, symbolic adoption follows a complete ritual. There is a nursery, delivery of birth certificate and even passport stamp. “Daniela is the one who takes care of the visas. The doll is already allowed to travel to Brazil. Her mother tried to prevent, but she has seen American and even authorization to enter Brazil,” he joked, showing the doll document with pride.

The funniest moment came when he questioned Helena Harary, sister of the store CEO, about the release of the doll. “Are you convinced that this child will go with me?” He asked, drawing laughs from the businesswoman. Faced with the negative answer, he didn’t lose the joke: “How do you do not? I paid you to be a rental mother.”
