“Spyridoules”, a play -inspired play inspired by the true story of Spyridoula that shocked public opinion of the 1950s, comes to Thessaloniki for six shows – from 7 to 11 May – at the Metropolitan: The Urban Theater.

The theatrical is inspired by the true, harsh story of 12 -year -old Spyridoulas from Mataraga Agrinio, who moved to the capital to work as a maid at a couple’s affirmative home in Piraeus.

For two consecutive years, as revealed to the hospital, the couple abused her physically and mentally, reaching the point of burning her with electric iron in the body and face.

“The project (we want to) speak in a way about all those girls found in homes as psychocritics in the 1950s and 60s in Greece and at the same time -because we are not used to doing works that are only for yesterday, we want to talk about everyone and everyone who has been in the Thanassis Zeritis, who signs with Harry Kremydas the directing of the show.

“The work is written as an ancient tragedy. Starring is the dance of women, Spyridoules, who work as home workers and commenting on the spatial. So we have tried to emphasize and give the characters more symbolic characteristics, to grow them, to multiply them in a way on stage, ”explains Zeritis.

Nefeli Maistralis’ work was first presented by the 4frontal team at the Athens Festival (2023), with continuous sold out.

Also, the Thrax Park band “dressed up” the lyrics of Nefeli Maistrali with punk sounds, creating a song cut and sewn for the work.

“Girls 12 years old, kids of the world/ who raped your devil’s souls/ take the sword in the hands, get a voice, shout/ get rid of slavery and shake the waters,” concludes the lyrics, which is particularly excited about Thanassis Zeritis, and as he says. The associations come automatically. “
