Maitê Proença says her parents were too wrong: ‘They made very serious flaws, and I forgave them’

Maitê Proença, 67, did not hide that she had a very troubled family relationship during childhood and adolescence, as she revealed in a recent interview. When asked what note would be as a daughter, the actress said that despite having a “strong personality”, she was kind and knew how to forgive. The actress lost her mother, murdered by her father, when she was only 12 years old. Maitê also shared her experience with Ayahuasca, a substance used in religious and therapeutic rituals and said that contact with the drink helped her face panic attacks at a delicate moment of your life: “Ayahuasca takes you almost on the brink of madness. You go through madness, because all your references go away and you cross something you never went through.”

The actress, who has been away from nine years away from soap operas – the last work was “Freedom, Liberdade (2016)” – said that when she had extreme anxiety seizures, she had already experienced the effects of the substance, which made her understand that she would not die or lose health during the episodes.
