“The ruin of Naoussa” in a shadow theater for the 200th anniversary of the Revolution and the Holocaust of the city

The anniversary performance of the shadow theater “The Ruin of Naoussa” by Giannis Hatzis is organized by the Municipality of Naoussa, in the context of the events for the 200th Anniversary of the Revolution and the Holocaust of the city.

This is an original work by the shadow theater artist Giannis Hatzis, who, inspired by the events of “Naoussa Ruin” and through many years of folklore and historical research, composed the work, while constructing new figures and sets for the needs of the show.

A servant of the Greek Shadow Theater, the well-known karaoke, impressed and moved by the “Ruin of Naoussa”, I wanted to approach the events of that uprising with the shadows of my art, with great respect for “persons and things “and in turn to contribute to the nationwide recognition and dissemination of the so unrecognized, from a historical point of view, sacrifice of Naoussa”, says the artist.

The work was originally presented decades ago to the student public of Naoussa. For the needs of the new performance, the necessary adaptations were made to the texts of the play, to the direction, etc.

The show is an offer of Giannis Hatzis and his assistants as a minimum tribute to the 200 years since the Revolution and the Holocaust of Naoussa, as indicated in an announcement of the Municipality of Naoussa.

Admission will be free for the public upon presentation of the relevant certificates in force (vaccination, illness, 24-hour self test for students).
