Fausto Silva celebrates this Friday (2) the arrival of his 75 years. Figure known for the spontaneity, Faustão has been wanted by the Brazilian people for at least four decades. His talent as a communicator, however, almost did not become public, as he almost became a priest and lawyer, but gave up both careers (see more curiosities in the gallery below).
In front of the cameras, the naturalness with which he interacts with the public consolidated him as one of the great presenters of the history of Brazilian TV. His slogans became a trademark. From “ô loco, animal” to the classic “maybe live”, their iconic phrases have infiltrated popular vocabulary and became part of national culture – and of course they became memes as well.
The trajectory of the presenter and journalist began in his teens, when he already transmitted by radio information about parties and events in the interior of São Paulo. Santos fan, Faustão began his career in the sport, but soon saw him a communication that would lead him to stardom on television.
In 1989, he debuted Domingão do Faustão at Globo, a broadcaster where he remained for over 30 years. The program marked an era in Sunday entertainment with varied, musical and interviews.
After a brief stint at Band and some health setbacks, the presenter is still away from TV, but his legacy is undeniable. So much so that one of the children, João Silva, follows his footsteps in charge of an attraction on Sundays. Look at this beast there, animal!
