I am an example of overcoming and I am overcoming sclerosis, says Claudia Rodrigues

by

Leonardo Volpato

Claudia Rodrigues received the diagnosis of multiple sclerosis, a chronic autoimmune neurological disease that hits the central nervous system in 2000. She lived her professional peak, starring humor programs on Globo grid when she needed to stop.

Today, 25 years later, the artist speaks openly about living with the disease in motivational lectures alongside the bride, Adriane Bonato. “I will make fun of my disgrace (laughs),” says, humorous, the artist.

It was not always like that. Until it reached this moment of speaking openly about the subject was a process. “Before I was angry with God, I didn’t believe it was possible [ter uma vida saudável com a doença] And now I know that when we have faith and determination, everything is possible, “he says.” I’m always in the fight. “

The actress, as Bonato explains – that is also her businesswoman -, she is still hired from Globo by virtue of a court order. Claudia receives salary, continues with health plan and other benefits, but is not called for new work.

In an interview with F5Claudia says if she gets upset that she no longer has television invitations, he comments on how she has been living with multiple sclerosis and talks about the passion for the bride. Check out the main excerpts of the conversation below.

In 2025 it is 25 years of its diagnosis of multiple sclerosis. How do you feel?

Amazingly, I feel better and better. I wake up every day following the protocols. But I have ups and downs … higher than low!

What was it like to receive this news for two and a half decades ago?

When the doctor said that I said, “How is it? Multiple? How many? This is a rich thing, if it was poor, it would be unique sclerosis” (laughs).

Do you usually help many people who suffer from the same disease?

Yes, I help many. There are people who do not accept. When I declared that I have, I became an example for people. I do physical therapy and I’m fine. I am an example of overcoming and I am overcoming sclerosis.

What have been your biggest challenges all this time?

My biggest difficulty is the walk. I’m trying and fighting for it. My right eye is also a little fallen, but that’s all. Otherwise everything is fine. There are people who are inspired by me. When the person says he has the disease I say, “Take a deep breath, take a cold water and go to life.”

Claudia, did you always have faith in your recovery?

Love helps me. Before I was angry with God, I did not believe it was possible [ter uma vida saudável com a doença] And now I know that when we have faith and determination, anything is possible. I am always in the fight.

Despite still having a contract with Globo, you are no longer called to act. Is that chateia?

With all this confusion of globe, what upset me is not to reprise “the day laborer” [2004-2007]. They repress all the programs, but this one. That’s what hurt me the most, because everyone asks when I’m going back, they want to see me [no papel da empregada Marinete].

Currently you have been giving lectures with Adriane to talk about facing the disease. How has it been?

I will make fun of my misfortune (laughs). With a good mood, I speak things I’ve done, the ones I have been changing. I was crazy in chocolate, but today I can’t eat anymore. I mean, even how, but another kind, bitter.

Your relationship will turn three. How is the engagement?

We made friends, and one day I said I wanted it to be more. I always had sex with a man and thought that catching a woman would be a passing thing. But I’m completely in love, I don’t live without her.
