Brooklyn Beckham speaks tenderly about David’s father in the midst of a family rupture, while the former footballer desperately wants reconciliation
Brooklyn Beckham made a rare reference to his father, David Beckham, at a time when the family seems to be under serious crisis.
The rumored tension in the famous family’s relationships has brought Brooklyn, 26, and his wife Nikola Pelj, 29, in relation to the rest of Beckham family. Rumors flared when the couple was absent from David’s 50th birthday.
However, in a recent interview with the Sunday Times, on the occasion of his engagement with motor sport and Formula E, Brooklyn was tenderly referring to his father.
“It’s something that brought me close to my father,” he said from the Formula E Evo Sessions in Miami in March, explaining that his love for speed began at an early age.
“My father had some very impressive cars,” he added, revealing that his favorite is a 1954 Jaguar, which leads “very rarely when the weather is ideal.”
This emotional reference came a few days after the revelations that David Beckham is “desperate to reconcile” with his son, fearing that the story is repeated – referring to his own rupture with his father, Ted, in 2005.
David and his father, Ted, today maintain a close relationship, but they had been completely removed in the past. Everything changed when Ted suffered a serious health problem in 2007, which brought the two men again.
A friend of the former footballer told The Sun that the family “is honestly afraid that Brooklyn can be lost in their lives forever.” He added that the verb was “lost” was highly charged for them, as Ted had used when he had stopped communicating with David.
David has previously mentioned his need to win his father’s recognition. Speaking to James Corden at Podcast This Life of Mine in 2024, he had said that it had been over two decades until he heard from his father the phrase “you did it, my boy”. This happened only after recording 100 appearances with the National Team of England.
“My father had never told me that I had gone well, until my hundredth game. It was then that we sat for a dinner in Paris and told me “you did it, my boy,” David said. Despite his significant successes – six Premier League titles, two England Cups, four community shields and one Champions League – the recognition came only then.
The concern about the future of the relationship with Brooklyn seems to have also affected Victoria Beckham. Source told The Sun that the 51 -year -old fashion designer is undergoing “insomnia” because of the family rift.
“This is Victoria’s worst nightmare. The idea that she can be alienated from one of her children tortures her. There have been difficulties since Brooklyn met Nikola and there is no doubt that there was a rupture on the occasion of their marriage. Victoria and David have tried a lot to make relationships, so this development is a real blow. “
MailOnline has contacted David and Brooklyn representatives for a comment.
