The incident of violence in town planning, as Cretalive has written, has prompted the immediate reaction of the Municipal Authority, while disruption is dominated by OTA workers, with the Association of Chania Prefecture referring to “tramping attacks” and calling for direct mobilizations.
With harsh expressions, the Chania Local Government Workers’ Association denounces the “practice of wild West” which – as he says – tends to establish itself in services that come into contact with great financial interests. As noted in the announcement, this is not an isolated incident, as a few days ago, an employee of the green in the New Chora was also attacked by a citizen.
“Our rage is overflowing,” the Association says, complaining that municipal officials are working on low wages, insecurity and staff shortages, while facing not only the difficulties of daily operation but also attacks in duty.
“We are not employees the cause of the problems,” the statement said, with a clear state to the state and the decisions that – according to the club – have led to the current situation. Employees are calling for the arrest and reference to the justice of the perpetrators of the attacks, as well as to take all necessary measures to ensure the physical integrity of those serving in local government.
In this context, the Association announced a work stoppage on Monday, May 12 and called for a rally at 8:30 am. Outside of Chania Town Planning, followed by a protest at the Chania Public Prosecutor’s Office.
