During the testimony of influencer Virginia Fonseca to CPI of Bets, this Tuesday (13), an unusual moment starring Senator Cleitinho Azevedo (Republicans-MG) took over social networks. The parliamentarian surprised to ask the businesswoman to record a video sending a hug to her wife and daughter.
Before the request, Cleitinho, 43 took the speech to say that he did not see Virginia as a criminal and tried to establish a friendly tone with the deponent. “I’m not here to point out my finger. I even took the pre-workout of your brand today,” he said, pulling laughter from the present audience and the influencer himself.
He then appealed for Virginia to re -partner with betting platforms. “I am here to sensitize, touch your heart, so that it stops advertising these types of games,” he said, before finishing with the request: “Can you send a hug to my wife?”
The scene went viral on social networks, being criticized by many users for the breach of formality and lack of focus on the severity of the topic under discussion.
Comments such as “This gave me a hatred that Our Lady, Brazil has already been lost” (@meninavenenodiz) and “impressive as lack of professionalism in politics” (@dantepramin) reflected the dissatisfaction of the public with the senator’s behavior.
Virginia, who has more than 45 million followers adding her networks, was summoned by the CPI because of her acting as a poster girl in bookmakers-who has been the target of investigation for alleged encouragement of young people and minors.
Despite the relaxed situation with the senator, the influencer faced more tense moments during the session. Asked about amounts received in advertising campaigns linked to gambling, she declined to answer and reserved the right to remain silent.
The testimony is part of the series of hearings conducted by the collegiate, which seeks to understand the extent of the involvement of celebrities and content creators in promoting sports betting platforms, a sector that moves billions and operates with recent regulation in the country.
