In the leading architecture exhibition internationally, the Venetian Neoria of the Municipality of Chania will be “representing”, along with the Neoria of Heraklion, the official participation of Greece in the 19th Biennale of Venice Architecture until November 10, 2025.

At the inauguration of the 19th Biennale of Venice Architecture, the “present” was given by the Secretary General of Contemporary Culture, Eleni Dundoulakis, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Environment and Energy, Efthimi Bakoyannis, while the Municipality of Chania and the Municipality of Chania Manolis Kotsifakis.

The Venetian Neoria of ChaniaSymbol of Maritime History and Cultural Heritage of Chania, presented at the pavilion of Greece of Biennale, with the submission of the “Intelligens Historica” ​​proposal by the Scientific Team of the Technical University of Crete, under architect Nikos Skoutelis.

Through interactive exhibits, impressive wooden representations of 1:15 scale, art facilities and multimedia presentations, visitors have the opportunity to get to know the history of Neoria, their role and their contribution to shipbuilding, as well as their future use as cultural spaces.

Chania Mayor Panagiotis Simandirakis said that the participation of the Venetian Neoria of Chania and Heraklion in the 19th Venice Architecture Biennale “is a historic landmark for the Municipality of Chania and Crete as a whole. It is a magnificent distinction that promotes the city’s unique cultural and architectural wealth at the global level, enhancing its cultural identity and its international reputation.

The proposal entitled “Intelligens Historica“, under the guidance of Professor Nikos Skoutelis and his excellent team from the Technical University of Crete, he was chosen among many others to represent Greece in this great event. Chania and Crete can stand up to their worldwide architectural symbols.”

By decision of the Ministry of National Economy and Finance, the project for “restoring, promoting and rendering uses in the complex of the Seven Venetian Neoria in the Old Town of Chania” were included in the program “Environment and Climate Change 2021-2027”, with a total budget of 20,711.095 euros for the full rehabilitation of 7 Specifications, accessible to all.
