Virginia Fonseca, who adds more than 52 million followers on Instagram, was invited to occupy the Post of Drum Queen of the Greater Rio Academics in 2026. If accepted, the influencer will replace Paolla Oliveira, who said goodbye after seven years ahead of the Rhythm of the Duque de Caxias samba school in Baixada Fluminense.
According to F5, Virginia met with the school board on the night of Thursday (15), in Rio de Janeiro, when she received the invitation. At first, the wife of singer ZĆ© Felipe signaled positively, but was given a definitive answer early next week. Once you have the “yes”, the school intends to officially announce the new drum queen.
However, the name of Virginia was not well received by the association fans. On the social networks of Greater Rio, the latest publications have been taken by criticism of the possible choice.
“We don’t want Virginia as Queen. This woman is all wrong,” wrote a netizen.
“We deserve a decent queen and at least know where Caxias is,” protested another follower.
Despite criticism, the school board justifies the choice based on the potential for the influencer’s viralization, which could attract more visibility to the Greater Rio projects.
The report also found that behind the scenes, however, there is dissatisfaction between members of the board because Virginia has no connection with the carioca carnival or the universe of samba.
Recently the name of the influencer was involved in the BETS CPI controversy. Virginia deposed as a witness on Tuesday (14), because of the advertising work she performs for gambling companies. She was widely criticized for laughing at various times of the testimony, and was tiered by parliamentarians.
