Johnny Massaro says why he hid sexuality: ‘I couldn’t talk if I wanted to work’

At 33, Johnny Massaro is celebrating two decades of career in dramaturgy. In an interview with Ronnie Von in ‘Company Right’ (RedeTV!), The actor recalled the most striking moments of the trajectory and also talked about the challenges he faced, how to hide sexuality at the beginning of his career.

“I couldn’t talk about it if I wanted to work,” said the actor. “There was no reference. I started talking about it four years ago, that is, for 16 years of my profession I made heterosexual characters and was never a matter,” said Massaro.

In 2024, the artist publicly took over the relationship with architect Ray Queiroz. But the subject came to light three years earlier, when he lived the bisexual character Giotto in “Secret Truths 2” (Globo).

“Even after assumed, I was the protagonist of the soap opera ‘Terra e Passion’ [2023]which was very special, “he says, who reveals that he has already considered leaving the performance.

“I was flirting for about three years with this idea of ​​pause in my career, focusing toward, but I realized that I was being naive,” he admits.

His debut as a director was with the feature film “The Kitchen” (2023), which had good repercussions, but the return to set as an actor ended up talking louder: “Being an actor is part of who I am. The idea is to balance,” he says.
