Two of the BTS members, V (Kim Taehyung) and RM (Kim Namjoon), were officially dismissed from compulsory military service on Tuesday (11), rekindling fans’ hope for the long-awaited reunion of the South Korean group. Both fulfilled about 18 months in the Armed Forces, as required by law in South Korea for all men between 18 and 28 years old.
Wearing the military uniform and visibly thrilled, the artists were welcomed by dozens of fans at the base door where they were crowded. “For everyone who waited for us, I want to say that I am very, very grateful. Please take it a little more and we will come back with an amazing presentation,” said V, in front of the press and the public.
RM also thanked the support of the BTS fan base, known as Army, who continued active and mobilized even during the period of departure from the members. The global community of followers adds to millions and is considered one of the most engaged in the world of pop music.
Two other band members, Jin and J-Hope, had been previously released and have been gradually resuming their activities, including participation in TV shows and solo releases. According to the Korean press, the last three members – Jimin, Jung Kook and Suga – should complete military service by June 21, ending the group’s mandatory hiatus.

With all members about to resume their careers simultaneously, the expectation for an official BTS return is growing later this year. The group has not launched any joint work since 2022, when it announced a break in activities so that each member could focus on individual projects and fulfill military obligations.
“After looking for our own ways, now we are getting back again, and I love it to us,” J-Hope said in an interview with Esquire magazine at the end of 2023.
The Hybe label, which manages the septate’s career, prepares a special event to celebrate the 12 years of BTS formation, named BTS Festa. The celebration is scheduled for this week, although it has not yet been confirmed if all members will participate. Last year, Jin represented the group at the meeting with fans.
