The only Ikaria becomes the studio of “Where there is Greece” today, Wednesday, June 11th at 14.45. Elambia Revi and George Kourdis visit the island that has linked its name to the mythical Icarus and is famous for the different way of life of its inhabitants and local traditional dances.

The Ikarian rhythm rises wherever it sounds, let alone the island itself by the hands of the violinist Yiannis Roussou, who left his life in America and returned to his beloved place. What is the special pace that makes the whole world want to become part of it at the festivals?

The “sunbeam”, a team in Ikaria that supports and cares for people with disabilities, scatters light in society. Their theatrical performance, entitled “Glaropoulia”, travels throughout Greece.

Volunteer firefighters say they are deeply grateful for the Ikarian people, while funding themselves something they love: to offer themselves to the common good, from conscientiousness, care and love.

In the last decade, dozens of shipwrecks have been identified in the island complex of Fournoi, making the point “World Capital of Shipwrecks”, as the international press called it. The uncontrolled waste throwing on two HADAs, at the positions of Agathopos Evdilou and Argioulaki Raches, tortures the inhabitants of Ikaria. The garbage form mountains, the garages give a race every day to ensure the soil required for their burial, and the municipality warns of a series of impacts if no solution is found soon.
