Several famous people joined the anti-TRUMP demonstrations held on Saturday (14) in more than 2,000 cities in the United States. The protests, called “No Kings” (“Without Kings”), were summoned as a counterpoint to the Military Parade promoted by the US President in Washington.
This is the first military parade in the American capital in 34 years. The official reason is the country’s 250th anniversary, but he was scheduled for Donald Trump’s birthday, which turns 79. “No Kings” is also a demonstration of the discontent on the part of the population with his decision to send federal forces to Los Angeles, the scene of acts against the siege to immigrants.
In New York, actor Mark Ruffalo said he was on the street because American democracy is “in danger.” “We see a president who has become a king and dictator, and we do not see a strong enough opposition to position himself against the violation of our rights and the constitution that happens every day,” he said in an interview with MSNBC.
Presenter Jimmy Kimmel went with his parents to protest in San Francisco and reported on social networks. “A huge participation, inspiring and, yes – just,” he said. “I have met a lot of people who love this country and still believe it is a strength for good. I’m grateful to see so many Americans acting to defend our friends and neighbors, especially my parents.”
They also joined or demonstrated support for protests such as Glenn Close, Anna Kendrick, Ayo Edebiri, Kerry Washington, Gina Rodriguez, David Arquette, Marisa Tomei, Natasha Rothwell and Amy Lee, Evanescence singer, among others (check out the gallery).
