Genevieve Chenneour, known for Clara Livingston’s role in the “Bridgerton” series, starred in a scene outside the screens that repercussions strongly on social networks. Security cameras recorded the moment when the actress unexpectedly reacted to an attempted theft and assaulted the thief in the middle of the street.
The case happened in February this year, but only came to light this week, when Genevieve decided to publicize the video of the occurrence on his social networks. In the recording, she appears talking to a friend in a counter when a man approaches the back and takes his cell phone. The reaction was immediate: she runs after the boy, reaches him, pulls him by the arm and begins to fight him.
Instead of just recovering the device, the actress uses it to hit the attacker, who falls to the floor while trying to protect herself from blows and kicks. The action drew attention for the intensity of the response and also that she physically faced the criminal, even at risk.
Genevieve commented on the episode on his stories on Instagram. “The man who stole me was the same who had previously threatened with a knife. When he came back approaching, something took over me. In my head, it became a life or death situation,” he said. “It was an instinct. I didn’t think much.”
The thief was identified as Zacariah Boulares, 18, and was eventually arrested by police shortly after the incident, according to The Sun. He already had 12 previous convictions and declared himself guilty during the trial held in May. A second man, who was also present, was arrested but released for lack of evidence.
Despite the positive repercussion on the networks, the actress confessed that she is not comfortable watching the scene. “What a madness … I feel bad watching that,” he said. In an interview with the British program this Morning, she said she was surprised by her own reaction. “When I first saw the video, I was in shock. I thought it had lasted much longer, but it all happened in seconds.”
The scene generated support comments to the actress, but also raised debates about the risk of reacting to theft situations. Genevieve does not encourage attitude, but says that at the moment he has not seen an alternative. “It’s not something I planned to do. It was simply as my body reacted. I don’t recommend it, but now I understand that each situation is unique.”
