The playwright Silvio de Abreu, a well -known name of Brazilian television drama, again demonstrated dissatisfaction with the remake of “Vale Tudo”, originally aired in 1988 and currently adapted by Manuela Dias at Globo. In an interview with RedeTV! TV!, Last Tuesday (17), he went straight: “If she wanted to change so much, she should make her soap opera.”
The criticism, while being accompanied by praise to the author, reflected the discomfort with the course taken in the new version. “I think Manuela is a great author. I was the one who revealed her on Globo. But she took another way. A path that I don’t know if it’s doing well, because I’m not connected anymore. But from what I have read, I see a lot of changes,” he said.
For Silvio, the biggest problem is precisely in the essence of adaptation. “They are changing too much. The soap opera loses the strongest, which was the impact. If it was to do something so different, it was better to have created something new,” he said.
This was not the first time the author showed discomfort with the rereading of the story. Last month, during participation in RedeTV! RedeTV!, He stated that the remake was technically well done, but without the same effect as the original version. “There is no impact. It has already been seen, no fun,” he said.
Even far from Globo since 2020, Silvio remains active in productions. In 2024, he worked as a text supervisor of the soap opera “Beauty Fatal”, from the Max platform. The newsletter, written by Raphael Montes, had a good reception from the public and had names such as Camila Queiroz, Giovanna Antonelli, Marcelo Serrado and Camila Pitanga in the cast.
Author of hits such as “Queen of Scrap”, “The Next Victim”, “Beautiful and Passione”, Silvio is known for his precision in treating social and political themes in soap operas.
