Naxos is the largest island of the Cyclades and is famous for its rich history, the beautiful inland with its picturesque settlements, the cosmopolitan country, traditional products and of course for the beautiful coastline and its lacy beaches with the blue -green waters! There you will find beaches literally for all tastes.

More organized, family and shallow coasts, more secluded and romantic beaches, and even sandy beaches for endless “club” to the final fall. The island is large and has a variety of beaches to choose the one that fits you perfectly. The beaches of the island stand out for the white sandy beach and crystal clear waters, and you will find easy and natural shade, which is a great privilege in the Cyclades.

We have found and present to you the 10 best beaches on the island, for unforgettable dives in the deep blue of the Aegean.

1. Saint Prokopios

This beach stands out for its large area, soft sand and picturesque landscape, and is the perfect place to start your excursions to Naxos. It is located on the west coast of the island, near the homonymous settlement of Agios Prokopios. There you will find everything you need. The 2km long beach has all the amenities and is ideal for all ages. Indeed, for the most adventurous, there is a diving center, for unforgettable underwater explorations in the wrecks of the area. If you are still looking for a little tranquility, just go to the less organized side of the beach, apply your towel and enjoy one of Naxos’ best beaches.

2. Agia Anna

Leaving Saint Prokopios, we find yet another wonderful beach of Naxos, and the reason of course for Agia Anna. There you can reach either by road or by following the path that is there. This beach is particularly popular with couples and young people for the cosmopolitan atmosphere, beach bars, all -day parties and diving. It is smaller than the beach of Agios Prokopios and there you can come across a lot of people, so it is preferable to go early to enjoy the crystal clear waters with your peace. You will also find many taverns and shops along the beach to combine the bathroom with food, or a cool cocktail at sunset.

3. Maragka

Next in the series is Maraga beach, which is also connected by a path to the beach of Agia Anna. The glittering, yellow sand and the blue waters look like an optical eye. Maragas is one of the largest beaches of Naxos (4km) and there you can either stay on the organized side of the beach with shops and water sports, or go to the quieter and disorganized side, and lay your towel on the shade of trees. And there you will find several seafood shops to combine eating ride.

4.

White sand, turquoise waters and a few scattered trees make up the image of the plaque, which is one of the most popular beaches of Naxos. And not unjustly we would say … The Boho Plaka is next to the homonymous seaside settlement and is essentially the extension of Maragka. It stands out for its wild beauty, clear waters, and every year it is filled with wind and kite-surfers, enjoying the strong winds and waves of the Aegean.

5. Little Vigla

If you are a lover of water sports, then little Vigla is the right place for you. It is Naxos’s best beach for wind and kite-surfing thanks to the winds blowing in the area, and the package comes to complete its shallow waters and its golden sand. When it doesn’t blow, you can rent a canoe and explore the beautiful coastline. Just beyond the bay is the picturesque Kastraki beach, where you will also find a center for Kite and Wind-Surfing. Both beaches are located on the west side of Naxos, offering a magical and unforgettable sunset.

6. Aid

Continuing our ride to the south of the island, we reach Alykos. This beach is surrounded by a cedar and impressive dunes, which in combination with the turquoise waters form an extremely exotic setting. There you will also see the ruins of a half -finished hotel, now covered with graffiti and exudes a sense of mystery. Very close to the beach is the chapel of Agios Georgios, which offers a magnificent view, and the rocky beach of Hawaii, which is ideal for a snorkeling swimming. And in this area the sunset is magical.

7. Tower

A short distance from Alykos we find Pyrgaki beach, surrounded by cedars, has fine white sand and shallow turquoise waters. The beach is exposed to the winds, which means it attracts less people than other beaches on the island. There you can enjoy the quiet, and dive off the rock, located on the east side of the beach.

8. Agiassos

Before leaving the west coast of Naxos, we make a stop in Agiassos. It is a long beach, surrounded by green, has many small bays on both sides, fine white sand and shallow waters in turquoise shades, which make it ideal for families. A short walking distance you will find another beach, Athena, which if you are lucky, you can enjoy private!

9. PAINERMOS

Continuing our trek to the other side of the island (southeast), we meet Panermo or Panormos. The first thing that stands out on this beach is the tall palm trees, which offer natural shade. The setting becomes even more exotic thanks to the fine, white sand and pebbles, and is the perfect place to avoid the crowds and the strong winds.

10. Fine sand

We complete our list of Psili Ammos, one of the best beaches to the east of the island. It is one of the most quiet and virgin beaches of Naxos, which has no infrastructure. The beach has dunes, scattered cedars all over the area, and shallow crystal clear waters. From there you can see the Koufonissia opposite, while it is the right place for Digital Detox and total relaxation. If you are on the island, do not miss a dip in one of the last untouched Cycladic paradises.
