Brazilian Ana Catharina becomes prominent in Big Brother from Portugal after controversy with accent

Two weeks after the debut of Big Brother Summer, special edition of reality in Portugal, Brazilian Ana Catharina, 34, has already become one of the most commented participants of the attraction. Actress and event producer, she starred in a controversy by discussing with another participant, Catarina Miranda, who imitated her Brazilian accent.

Known for not accepting provocations, inside or outside the show, Ana climbed the chair and put her foot on the table where Catherine was, demanding that her colleague repeated what she said. “I want to hear you talk about the highest microphone. Repeat, girl!” The attitude reverberated on Portuguese networks and websites.

During a dynamic with host Maria Botelho Moniz, Ana explained her reaction: “Every year I lived here in Portugal I heard comments about my accent, in different situations: in the public system, at work. My reaction was of pain, because only I know how much it hurts.” Thrilled, she added, “So, I shouldn’t have put a foot on the table, but both.”

Ana Catharina is not novice in Portuguese realities. In 2020, she participated in another edition of Big Brother, ranking fifth and standing out for the defense of feminist guidelines. At the time, he lived a remarkable moment when he was informed of his father’s death while still confined, in the middle of COVID-19.
