Famous director Michael Mann is going to receive an honorary prize at the 17th Lumière Festival in Lyon in France in the fall.

The festival, led by the Director of the Cannes Festival, Thierry Frey, honors classic films and emblematic directors and actors every year.

Throughout his career, which extends so far in forty years, Man has directed Calt films, “Heat”, “The Last of the Mohican”, “The Insider” and “Collateral” and has collaborated with Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, Daniel Dai Portman et al.

The American director, screenwriter and producer will be awarded the Lumière award for his contribution to cinematic art.

“He has his roots in a strong Hollywood tradition and embodies a personal and innovative cinema through his choice of themes, his approach to directing, narrative and aesthetics. With real independence – and occasionally with a certain loneliness – he is one of the most important directors in cinema history, “said a statement by the Lumiere Institute, adding that Michael Mann combines” the rigor of a creator with the enjoyment of popular cinema. “

The prize has been honored in the past by Clint Eastwood, Martin Scorsese, Francis Ford Coppola, Jane Fonda, Tim Burton, Quentin Tarantino, Catherine Denev and Isabelle Harler

The Lumière Award honors a personality for its entire work and its connection to the history of cinema.
