Singer Justin Bieber and businessman Scooter Braun officially ended a partnership of over 15 years with a millionaire financial agreement. The interpreter of “Baby” and “Sorry” agreed to pay $ 31.5 million, approximately $ 176 million, to the former agent after a judicial dispute involving values of the “Justice” tour of 2022, which was eventually canceled.
Of this total, $ 26 million (145, 2 million) correspond to an advance that Bieber had received from producer AEG Presents. When the tour did not happen, Braun’s company, Hybe, covered the costs to reimburse the producer. Bieber, however, would have made only one partial payment so far. The agreement also provides for US $ 5.5 million (R $ 30, 7 million) for non -paid commissions to Braun, closing the bills between the two, according to People magazine.
The announcement of the agreement came on Thursday (1st), the eve of the release of “Swag”, Bieber’s seventh album-his first musical project since “Justice” (2021).
The signs of wear in the relationship had been pointed out since 2023, when the magazine itself revealed that Justin Bieber and Braun had not been spoken for months, and that the singer was producing a new album without involvement of the former businessman. Braun, who discovered Justin on YouTube in the late 2000s, announced his retirement of musical management in 2024, after also working with names such as Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift and Demi Lovato.
In a recent interview, Braun acknowledged the distance: “It’s no longer as it was before. We worked together for a long time and had an extreme success, but I think there is a point where you want to show the world that you can do things yourself, and I completely respect that.” Despite the closure of the partnership, the entrepreneur said he is still cheering by the former client: “Me and everyone in the old team we are cheering for him.”
