Ozzy Osbourne, lead singer of the iconic band Black Sabbath, died on Tuesday (22) at the age of 76. As soon as the news was confirmed by TMZ, friends, fans and artists from around the world began to pay tribute to the singer, considered one of the most influential figures in rock history.
Elton John was one of the first to speak publicly. “Very sad about the news of @ozzyosbourne’s death. He was a great friend and a true pioneer, who secured his place in the pantheon of rock gods – an absolute legend. He was also one of the funniest people I have ever met. I will miss him.
Actor Jason Momoa also lamented the loss of the artist known as the Prince of Darkness. “I love you, @ozzyosbourne. All my love for @sharonosbourne and the family. Very grateful. Rest in peace,” he said on social networks.
In recent years, Osbourne has faced health complications related to Parkinson’s diagnosis. In the early July, he did his farewell show with Black Sabbath in Birmingham, UK. The event included a tribute to the singer with band performances from different generations of rock such as Metallica, Slayer, Alice in Chains, Guns N ‘Roses, Smashing Pumpkins and Anthrax.
In Brazil, personalities like João Gordo and Tico Santa Cruz also spoke. “Goodbye,” wrote João Gordo. Already the singer of Detonautas published a long text, thanking the singer: “Ozzy, thank you for everything! Your legacy will forever permeate the existence of all generations to come. Prime work! Rest in peace.”
