Actor Shia Labeouf, 38, and British singer FKA Twigs, 36, came to a court agreement that officially ends the artist’s process of sexual aggression against her ex-boyfriend. The information was confirmed by The New York Times, which received a joint statement released by his lawyers on Tuesday (30), almost four years after the start of the lawsuit.
The decision occurs after FKA Twigs filed a request to file the case on Monday (29) in the court of Los Angeles. In the process opened in December 2020, she accused the actor of “relentless physical and emotional abuse” during their relationship between 2018 and 2019.
In the action, FKA Twigs stated that Labeouf would have strangled, threatened and isolated from friends and family, and allegedly consciously transmitted to him a sexually transmitted disease. The complaints came to light shortly after the end of the relationship, which began during the filming of “Honey Boy”, a long semiautobiographical written and starring the actor.
Despite the formal closure of the dispute, the terms of the agreement were not disclosed. “They have chosen to follow different paths and wish one another personal happiness, professional success and peace in the future,” says the statement signed by lawyers Bryan Freedman, representative of Twigs, and Shawn Holley, who defends LaBeouf.
By making the complaints public, FKA Twigs stated in an interview with the New York Times that its goal was to alert other victims about the control and manipulation mechanisms used by aggressors. “Even though I’m an artist with visibility and support network, I found myself trapped in an abusive cycle. I decided to speak to make awareness,” she said at the time.
At the time of opening the lawsuit, Shia Labeouf recognized some of the accusations. In an email sent to the US newspaper, he said: “Many of these allegations are not true. I have no excuses for my alcoholism or aggressiveness, just rationalizations. I have a history of hurting people closest to me and I’m ashamed of it.”

After the repercussion, the actor moved away from the market and broke with his agency, CAA. He underwent specialized treatment and returned to act in the feature film “Megalópolis”, by Francis Ford Coppola, aired this year in Cannes.
