As Lina Mendoni said: “The protection, restoration and performance of the historical core of Fr. Royal Estate in Tatoi is a national work that turns the estate into a dynamic, visited place of culture and environment. It is one of the largest and most complex interventions of cultural infrastructure in the country, with the aim of creating a modern, public, cultural park that combines historical memory with public use. It is a multilevel intervention, which requires strict coordination, accuracy and consistency, both at the level of its design, but mainly in its implementation, with dedication to the goal, scientific methodology and documentation and timetables. The project was made in absolute priority by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis in his government’s programming statements in July 2019, and the Ministry of Culture undertook the preparation of all studies and the execution of the projects based on the feasibility study and viability of 20 Donation of AMKE “Aegeas” by Athanasios and Marina Martinos secured, in 2020, the creation of the necessary facilities for the launch of the first construction site of the Ministry of Culture. The Athanasiou Laskarides Foundation and AMKE “Aegeas” systematically support the work of the Ministry of Culture in Tatoi from 2019. Thank them from the heart. Without their decisive contribution we would not have reached today’s result. Today, five years later, it is easily understood that every building, every infrastructure, every museum function is part of a single and viable whole. The services of the Ministry of Culture work with professionalism, dedication and a deep sense of responsibility. In our autopsy we found progress on all construction sites. Although the overall image is absolutely positive, we have given instructions to enhance the pace of tasks in certain fields. Our goal is to complete the basic projects by the end of 2025 and to perform in 2026 to the citizens of Attica and to the visitors of a vibrant, sustainable, fully accessible and functional space. Tatoi is a project-proof project for future generations. We are not just restoring monuments. We re -establish a historical place offering a standard space of culture, environment and leisure“.
