They spent 100 years after the birth of Mikis Theodorakis. Of Mikey of Rome, Mikey of the Ecumenical who praised Greece and the Greeks. And it is true that Mikis, with his work, created and inherited a model artist who had not existed in the house.

He “lowered” the high art and the great poets in the slums, to the heart, the mind on the soul and the lips of the ordinary people of the labor and the biopsy. Few musicians around the world have accomplished this great work of Mikis Theodorakis. We may be deeply moved in Greece with the composed speech of Elytis, Ritsos and Seferis, but in the world, Orchestral Theodorakis is equal to the creator of songs.

Mikis Theodorakis, Cretan in origin, was born on July 29, 1925 in Chios. First son of George Theodorakis and Aspasia Poulakis. He spent his childhood in various cities in the Greek province such as in Mytilene, Ioannina, Kefalonia, Pyrgos, Patras and mainly in Tripoli. Since then it has been clear that his life would be shared between music and the struggle for “man”. He passed away at the age of 96 on September 2, 2021.

After the liberation, the civil war breaks out.

For a while he lives illegal in Athens without stopping his revolutionary action. Eventually, exile is being arrested and sent to Ikaria and then to the so -called Death Camp, Makronisos. He graduates from the Conservatory in 1950, with a diploma in harmony, counterfeit and fugue. It composes dozens of circles of songs that find a profound appeal within the Greek people. It establishes the small Athens Symphony Orchestra and gives many concerts throughout Greece, trying to familiarize the world with the masterpieces of symphonic music.
