Faustão is subjected to a liver transplant in São Paulo

Fausto Silva, 75, underwent a liver transplant last Wednesday (6), combined with a kidney relay that, according to Hospital Israelite Albert Einstein, was planned a year ago.

According to the medical bulletin, the presenter had been hospitalized since May 21 due to an acute bacterial infection with sepsis. During the period, it underwent infectious control and clinical and nutritional rehabilitation for healthcare stabilization. The new kidney transplant was planned for a year and was held on Thursday (7), one day after liver transplantation.

“The procedures occurred after Einstein was triggered by the São Paulo State Transplant Center and confirm the compatibility of the organs donated by single donor,” says the bulletin signed by the doctors of the hospital: Dr. Alvaro Pacheco e Silva Filho, nephrologist; Dr. Marcelo Bruno de Rezende, surgeon of the liver transplant team; Dr. Fernando Bacal, cardiologist; and Dr. Eliezer Silva, Executive Director of Health Systems.

Faustão faces a recent history of health complications. In August 2023, he underwent a heart transplant after heart failure. Months later, in February 2024, he underwent a kidney transplant as a result of the aggravation of a chronic renal condition.

Since then, he has followed treatment under constant medical follow -up. He even held hemodialysis sessions until his clinical condition allowed the adoption of another protocol.

In early 2025, he was hospitalized again due to an infection, but was high days later and followed treatment at home.
