Friends and famous ones have used social networks to say goodbye to sambista Arlindo Cruz, who died on Friday (8) at 66. He was hospitalized and had been facing the complications of a stroke that prevented him from walking and talking.
Family members published on the networks. “Your compositions and your smile will remain alive in the memory and heart of millions of admirers. We deeply thank all messages of affection, prayers and support gestures received throughout your career.”
Ana Maria Braga referred to the singer as “Master”. “A samba master, who left his mark with talent, joy and soul. My feelings to family, friends and all who were touched by his music. That rests in peace.”
From Arlindo’s greatest friends, Mumuzinho made an emotional account. “Today samba cries, and my heart cries together. It’s hard to find words to describe the pain of losing a master. He was not just a giant artist, he was an entity, a guy who broke barriers and taught me how to sing everything I like, without fear of experimenting,” he published.
The humorist Rafael Portugal regretted. “I’m here remembering how giant he was in the art of composing something I like to do too. I’m far from Arlindo, but I always had it as a reference.”
The Salgueiro samba school also talked about the importance of the sambista. “Today, samba silences in respect. We said goodbye to Arlindo Cruz, one of the greatest masters our music has ever known. Man of infinite talent, generous and rare devotion to samba, his history and his people.”
Neguinho da Beija-Flor thanked the nets for all the moments with his friend. “Thank you for every moment, teaching, representativeness and legacy you left to our samba. May heavenly daddy receive you in a lot of light. Rest in peace, my friend.”
