In the restoration of the building, at 32 Tripodon Street, the well -known “Kokovikou House” in Plaka and its conversion into a cultural area is being made by the Ministry of Culture, in the context of its policy of creating cultural nuclei in downtown Athens.

The building, in a ruined state today, has been described as a historic preserved monument with its surroundings, because it is an excellent example of Athenian home, while its rescue contributes to the history of Greek architecture. Studies for the restoration of the building and its surroundings were prepared by resources by the Ministry of Culture. The project is funded by the Attica Regional Operational Program – NSRF 2021-2027 with € 1,700,000.

According to the approved study, the historical image of the building is restored, its monumental character is highlighted, while ensuring universal accessibility. Restoration work of the shell and the reconstruction of the mainstream – concomitant two -storey building are being carried out to restore the typology of the Athenian courtyard, combined with the management of the Tripodian Street front, as well as the operational upgrading of the building for its new use. At the same time, the ancient architectural relics found inside the building and in its backyard are preserved, while ensuring their smooth view.

The building, with a total surface of 266 sqm, is three -storey with a wooden continuous loggia, in all levels, in response to the standards of the early Ottoman period. It is part of a complex with once concomitant buildings and inner courtyard, typology that prevailed during the Ottoman rule, in Plaka.

The presence of the main building, along with its worships, is documented in the period 1836-1837. It is a palmist due to the presence of surviving visible antiquities, at a level lower than the ground floor floor, both inside the building at its lower level and in the once backyard. He has received a series of interventions and modifications due to the mutation of his backyard (accompanying concomitant buildings and mands), conducting excavation in almost the entire area and inside the building, and total repair.
