Today, Friday, September 26 at 14.40, the broadcasting team travels to a crossroads of cultures, Xanthi. From the studio is co -ordinated by Yiannis Tsimitselis.
The Pomakohoria of Xanthi is an area with a special story. Once there were borders with bars, which isolated the villages from the rest of the world. Today, a faded sign is reminiscent of those days, but life here continues, with villages such as Myki, Centaurus and Echinos to remain crowded and full of traffic. On our journey we saw how people live today in a changing place, but keeping their tradition.
220 kids take a lesson in third world conditions at the Xanthi Music School. The building that is housed in the school has multiple deterioration, is facing the issue of static, and as the staff told us, it has no legal license for 27 years. The classrooms are small and fewer students, and they are the only music school in the county, resulting in increased demand.
Hundreds of stray dogs still live around the Old Kennoma of Xanthi. Next to it is an old landfill, but also the current city of recyclable materials in the city. Until recently, they had taken care of a animal association. Today, the animals are fed and watered by the municipality of the area, but this is not enough to solve the problem.
