Famous actor Tom Hanks sent a vintage German typewriter To a small business owner in Portland, Oregon, keeping a promise he had made two years ago.

Anthony Valopi, owner of the Type Space store, announced via Instagram that he had received a signed typewriter directly from Tom Hanks. Valopi shared photos with a special gift, as well as from his first meeting with an Oscar -winning actress in 2023.

The two men met when Hanks visited the store during a tour of his book “The Making of Another Major Motion Picture Masterpiece”. According to KGW8 News, they talked about an hour about typewriters, while Hanks bought an antique typewriter and pledged to send to Valop a signed by his collection.

As time went by without a gift, Valop admitted that he had forgotten the promise. Recently, he came into contact with Hanks manager for another reason, which reminded the actor’s group pending with the typewriter.

A few days later, a 1955 signed Rheinmetall with a German keyboard was delivered to the Valopi store. “Sorry collectors – this is invaluable!” He wrote himself on social media, inviting the public to share his joy.

Tom Hanks’ collection includes over 300 typewriters, some of which date back to the early 20th century. In January, Hanks had lent 35 typewriters to an exhibition at Shang Harbor Church.

In a letter accompanying the gift, Hanks said: “I think this typewriter will suit you. Ask someone older how it works. And use it to answer me”.
