A three -meter -high statue in its honor Tina Turner (Tina Turner)It was revealed on Saturday, September 27, in the rural community of Tennessee, where the Rock ‘n’ Roll queen grew up.

According to AP, the ceremony took place in a park in Braunsville, about an hour east of Memphis. The city of about 9,000 inhabitants is located near Natbas, the village where the star went to school as a child, while attending high school a few meters from where the statue was set up in the park.

With a total height of 2.4 meters and mounted on a 60cm base, the statue depicts the Turner with its characteristic hairstyle and with a microphone in hand, as if singing on stage.

It was crafted by Fred Ajanogha, who said he tried to capture her on -stage movements, the way she held the microphone with the stretched index, as well as her hairstyle, which compared the “mane of a lion”.

The project made of clay in Atlanta and spilled into a bronze in Western Tennessee, took a year to complete. About 50 donors contributed to his erection, with Ford Motor Company giving $ 150,000. It is noted that the company is manufacturing an electric truck factory in the nearby town of Stanton.

The unveiling took place during the annual Tina Turner Heritage Days festival, which takes place every year on the last weekend of September. The statue was set up near the singer’s museum, which is housed in the renovated Flag Groove, the one -year school where Turner attended Natba. The school had been closed in the 1960s and was used as a barn before being transferred to Braunsville and turned into a museum in 2014. It is worth noting that Turner passed away on May 24, 2023 at the age of 83 after a long illness, at her home in Koussaht.
