by

The Athens State Orchestra, for the sixth year collaborates with Leonidas Kavakos with two concerts in Patras (25/11) and Athens (28/11), in the framework of the charity program Music Offer & Music Offer, which is under the auspices of the world leading violinist and chief musician, in separate works of the symphonic repertoire.

The concert begins with the concerto for cello and orchestra no. 1 in doze major by Joseph Haydn, a forgotten masterpiece that was only discovered in the last century. The exuberant Agreement no. 6 in a minor recession by Sergei Prokofiev who ensures the intense musical journey of the night. Soloist, the prosperous cellist Timotheos Gavriilidis Petrin. The musical direction is undertaken by Leonidas Kavakos.

Regarding the initiative of this important charitable program of KOA, as Leonidas Kavakos has said, “it started on the one hand from the awareness he has about the times we live in and the problems faced by many sensitive social groups and on the other hand from the perception that “People born and living in cities smaller than Athens and Thessaloniki are doomed to a cultural exclusion, without having the ultimate responsibility.”

As for Leonidas Kavakos’ ties with the COM, they come from the past “in the sense that his father was a member for many years, he went with him to the tests as a small child, he knew all the colleagues of his generation and they knew him too since I was a little kid. The concert -then at the Pallas and the Herodeion- was the “event of the week” for me, something very important in my family, completely intertwined with the COM. So there is a bond, both old and essential, a bond of memory. “

For the program of the upcoming concerts, the soloist Timotheos Gavriilidis Petrin comments: “Haydn was a simple man, full of appetite for life, something that can be easily seen by listening to his music. His works are characterized by intense and rapidly alternating contrasts, written with emotional and structural clarity. His cello concerto in C major is no exception. It is a work that is fresh, full of humor, carefree and melodies written from the heart. I believe that the transmission of the character and the seemingly simplistic nature of this concert is the biggest challenge, as many times the difficulties are hidden in the things that at first seem obvious to us “.
