It began its journey in Thessaloniki in 1983, thanks to its dynamic founder Zina Athanasiadou. It “descended” in Athens, in Psirri and Kolonaki, thanks to the choice of the next generation, Marina Athanasiadou, to create the experimental space LAB Art Projects in 2000, but also the aaa art consultancy office, athanasiadou art advice in 2004. In 2018, it also dropped anchor in Paros to fill our summer trips to the beloved island with art Cycladic island. From November 14, 2025, ATHANASIADOU GALLERY is giving us an appointment at its new space in Koukaki.

The neighborhood

The choice of the area is not accidental. ATHANASIADOU GALLERY will present its program in one of the most beautiful streets of the Athenian center, Mitsaion Street, within walking distance of the Acropolis and the Acropolis Museum.

Consistently choosing to showcase Greek creation, its extroversion is one of the main goals of the gallery. As its director, Marina Athanasiadou, states: “My relationship with each artist is a relationship of friendship, cooperation and mutual love for contemporary art. We both work towards a common goal and share the same interest in art. Our aim is to promote the work of Greek artists in Greece and abroad. This is the reason why Koukaki was chosen, an area with a multicultural character.”

The place and the program

The bright yellow sign, with the well-known logo of the gallery, defines the meeting point at Mitsaion 4. The space is designed by the architectural office ADD Architecture Studio, the linear external railing is a creation of the artist Lina Theodorou, while the furniture are original creations of the Swiss company USM. Everything is consistent with the corporate character of the space, which will function both as an art consultancy office and as an exhibition space. The program will include individual exhibitions of partners and in situ projects. In addition, there will be an art store with collectible art publications and art objects from artists and architects. After all, the motto of the gallery is that “Collecting is a form of self-identification”.

The first exhibition in the new space

The exhibition program begins in November with the project “Hazy Cosmic Jive!” by Irini Linardakis and HOPE (Konstantinos Ntagkas), curated by art historian Eleni Koukos in collaboration with the artists. The dialogue between the two creators during the preparation of the exhibition and the coexistence of their works in the exhibition space works multiplyingly in terms of the intensity and meanings they produce. Linardaki – who lives and works between Heraklion, Crete and New York – is an artist with extensive experience in public space projects and environmental action. She will show her work for the first time in an Athenian gallery. HOPE, known for his diverse artistic practice – which includes sculpture, collage, performance and fanzine – will present a new series of ceramic sculptures. The project will be accompanied by a catalog with the curator’s text.
