Singer and actress Jennifer Lopez, 52, has announced that she and actor Ben Affleck, 49, are engaged again. In a video sent to subscribers of the On The JLo newsletter at dawn this Saturday (9), she shows a ring with a green stone on her ring finger and appears emotional.
“I have a very exciting and special story to share,” she says at the beginning of the video. Afterwards, she shows a series of scenes, photos and videos of her with Ben Affleck, and uses her song “On My Way (Marry Me)” in the background. In the lyrics, she says, “It doesn’t make sense, but it does. I was on my way to you.”
“You are perfect,” says the singer in the video, addressing her partner. A representative for J-Lo even confirmed to the North American magazine People that she and the actor are indeed engaged.
Affleck and Lopez dated for the first time between 2002 and 2004, but ended their engagement in January 2004. In June of the same year, the singer married singer Marc Anthony, 52, and together they had two children, twins Emme and Maximilian, 13. They divorced ten years later.
Affleck was married for 13 years to actress Jennifer Garner, 49, with whom he had three children: Violet, 15, Seraphina, 12, and Samuel, 9.
Speculation about a new romance between the artists began in May 2021, days after Lopez announced her breakup with former baseball player Alex Rodriguez, 45, with whom she remained for four years. Affleck, on the other hand, ended his relationship with actress Ana de Armas, 33, in January, just under a year after taking up the relationship.
On July 24, 2021, the date of the singer’s birthday, the couple admitted to the public that they were officially back, with a photo of the two together on social media.
