“It’s a run there, run here, but I’m loving it.” The sentence is by the actor Murilo Rosa, 51, who accumulates a list of projects and news for 2021. His productions range from the presentation of a reality show with famous and anonymous people to the recordings of a soap opera for the streaming platform HBO Max.
“I’ve always liked a little bit of everything, daring and difficult things”, says the actor, who became known during his 22-year stint at Globo. The contract with the broadcaster ended last August, and his last job at the house was the soap opera “Salve-se Quem Puder”, which started in 2020 and ended only in 2021, because of the pandemic.
Now, Murilo is preparing to do what he has always done, soap operas, but in a different way, on a streaming service that is not very familiar with the format. “Cruel Intentions” is being produced by HBO Max, will have about 50 chapters and should begin shooting in June. “Brazilians have always been, are and will continue to be passionate about soap operas, and the platforms have already understood that”, says the actor.
In the plot, Murilo will play Rubem, husband of the character of Camila Pitanga, 44, and a totally honest investigator, who sees his wife trying to take the easy way out. “It’s a totally relevant story. [Vamos] talk about justice, in a country like ours with so much injustice”, says the actor.
However, before getting into the production of the soap opera, Murilo will make his debut on the platform as a reality show presenter. He debuts in this role in The Bridge Brasil, a program that will bring together 14 participants to build a 300-meter bridge to an island, in 20 days, to find the prize of R$ 500 thousand. It still doesn’t have a premiere date.
“It was something different for me. It’s a reality film and the elements of nature are like a character”, he says. Throughout the program, participants must form alliances to, in the end, decide who deserves to take the prize. The chosen one can choose to share the money with the other allies or not.
Among the competitors will be anonymous and famous, a bit like Big Brothers Brasil (Globo), which in recent years has been divided between Camarote and Pipoca. Singer Pepita, actors Danielle Winits and Fábio Beltrão, singer BadauÃ, model Suyane Moreira, among other names, are already confirmed in The Bridge.
For Murilo, being in different formats and testing new things help to open doors to new challenges. “Diversity, for me, is everything. Not only in life but also in the profession”, adds the artist, who also presented the Oscar live on TNT on the 27th.
Murilo is also featured in the musical “Barnum – O Rei do Show”, where, in addition to acting, he sings, juggles and walks a tightrope. “It’s one of the most difficult jobs I’ve ever done. It’s not just acting in comedy and drama, but walking three meters high, without a safety net”, says he, who has other unusual jobs in his curriculum, such as the title in Dance of the Famous on Ice, in 2006.
“Barnum – O Rei do Show” is on display at Teatro Casa Grande, in Rio de Janeiro, where it should remain until April 30th. After that, Murilo intends to take him on tour around the country and, if possible, even to Portugal. Other than that, he says he has projects for films in the second half of this year, but without giving details of the project. “The actor will always like difficult things, whoever keeps repeating himself doesn’t evolve. And the actor’s universe allows me everything.”
