Proceeds from today’s concert of the Athens State Orchestra at the Municipal Theater of Piraeus will be donated to the construction of the Mariupol maternity hospital.
The announcement of the CMO follows
“The Athens State Orchestra feels the concern and concern of the public.
With respect to the victims of Ukraine and the needs of our fellow human beings, we accepted the proposal of the artistic director of the Municipal Theater of Piraeus Mr. Lefteris Giovanidis, so that the proceeds of our concert scheduled for today, be used for the purpose of building the Mariupo Maternity Hospital.
The Athens State Orchestra, by statute, but also on a regular basis for decades, brings music close to the citizens of all Greece. It tries, to the best of its ability with the support of institutional bodies and unceasingly, to offer the joy of listening to all Greeks. We are consistently next to the weakest of our fellow citizens with extensive social programs such as the “Copper Seminar” and the “Insisting Aegean”. We have given concerts in detoxification centers, detention centers and penitentiaries, institutions for the disabled and hospitals, offering even a small relief on a non-profit basis. Finally, we are one of the few institutions (and certainly the only music institution) that has developed a special program for refugees, the “Pink Box”, and in fact from the first moment of the refugee wave, considering that man, as a social being, it does not just need food and shelter. Among our important social actions that are spread throughout the Region are the “Right to Music” and of course the “Music Offer & Music Offer” under Leonidas Kavakos. An excellent initiative for which we have thanked him many times in public “.
