Married to singer Daniela Mercury, 56, journalist Malu Verçosa, 45, revealed on social media that she recently discovered a nodule in her lung, but that, perhaps by a miracle, it “dramatically decreased” and surgery was ruled out.
In a great statement on Instagram, Malu first gave more details about how the discovery was made. “Let’s celebrate life! Last week we came to São Paulo to, among other things, do routine exams. It was there that I received the diagnosis of a nodule in the left lung, with the possibility of being a tumor”, she began.
“Life has tied a knot! We didn’t return to Salvador as initially planned. We continued on to São Paulo for more exams and surgery”, amended the journalist.
Last Tuesday (12), she and Daniela went to the hospital apprehensive. A biopsy was scheduled before going into surgery. She says that there was a small possibility of not having to do any procedure if the nodule had reduced, but that this would be ‘something very rare’.
The journalist says that when she went down to the tomography room to check the positioning of the nodule, she heard screaming among the doctors. “The lump had drastically reduced and they [médicas] they wouldn’t even do the biopsy anymore. I don’t know if it was a miracle, if my father, who is already on another plane, interceded […] I just know that I’m blessed.”
In July 2019, Malu and Daniela took advantage of a trip to the Azores, where the singer would perform, to renew their vows. The two, who have been married since 2013 in Brazil, also made the union worth it in Europe.
“Malu and I feel like getting married in this paradise, in this place that welcomes us so well and makes us feel at home,” said Mercury.
The ceremony took place in the city of Horta, on the island of Faial. Ilha Azul, as Faial is known, is special for the couple. Daniela Mercury, who is a Portuguese citizen (her father was born in Braga), received the title of Ambassador of Faial by the Horta City Council two days ago.
