A show that transcends social barriers and removes barriers to talk about it unreasonable, the instinct, the forbidden, the imagination, the soul that ultimately insists on the search for total and reciprocal love, goes up from April 28 until May 8, 2022 on the stage “Socrates Quarantine” of Monastery of Lazarists hosted by State Theater of Northern Greece.
“Horses in Love” directed Eleni Efthymiouby the group “En Dynamei” -a group of young artists with and without disabilities-, is an anthem to the original vitality, to the sexual impulse, to all the senses that are entrenched by a strictly rational perception of life.
The play is the third part of a theatrical trilogy entitled “The Other the Normal”. The first part of the trilogy, “The fan man or How to dress an elephant”, was presented at the Athens and Epidaurus Festival (2015), at the “Michalis Kakogiannis” Foundation, at the 4th Our Stage Festival in Dresden and at the 54th Dimitria, while the second part “The Other House”, a production of the Roof of the Onassis Foundation, was presented at the Roof of the Onassis Foundation and the 51st Dimitria.
The last part of the trilogy was presented at the 4th Forest Festival 2018, at the Athens and Epidaurus Festival 2019 and made a European tour (Poland, Bulgaria, Cyprus and Portugal) with the support of the Perform Europe program.
All three productions are directed by Eleni Efthymiou, under the artistic direction of Eleni Dimopoulou. In this theatrical trilogy, “In Power” explores the question: “What is not Normal is Other?” and at the same time they seek to make the unfamiliar known and familiar through the sharing of true stories of people who experience the negative sign of the “Other”.
The text of the play is the result of research on the issue of love and disability and is composed of edited excerpts from interviews and original texts of the group members. Among other things, the text of Giota Tembridou “The Convention” can be heard, while there are diffuse references to emblematic phrases of great thinkers and writers about love.
