Canadian singer Shawn Mendes, 23, complained of overload and made a long outburst on social media. According to him, he sometimes wonders what he should be doing with his life, but he has chosen to always tell the truth and be honest with the public. But that hasn’t been easy.
“I feel like this is a hard thing to do. I’m afraid if people know and see the truth, they might think less of me. They might get tired of me,” Shawn began.
“The truth, in its current form, is a 23-year-old who constantly feels like he’s flying or drowning. Maybe that’s what it’s like to be in your 20s or maybe it’s just me. The truth is, I really want to appear on world as my only 100% true and honest self, and I don’t care what others think”, amended the musician.
He goes on to say that sometimes he cares too much about what people think of him, but at other times he doesn’t care and feels freer.
“Most of the time it’s a struggle, that’s the truth. The truth is, even with so much success, I still find it hard to feel like I’m not failing. Hyperfocused on what I don’t have, forgetting to see everything I do. The truth it’s just that I’m overworked and overstimulated. The truth is also that I’m fine. I’m just trying to say and be the truth,” he concluded.
On the last day of last year, the musician had already made another outburst. He used Instagram to thank fans for the support of his latest single “It’ll Be Okay” And to talk about the difficulty in dealing with social networks at that moment – he and Camila Cabello ended their two-year relationship in November.
“I’m having a little bit of trouble with social media right now and just connecting with it. But I have a lot of people sending me videos and telling me what’s going on,” he said from his home in Toronto.
The singer said that when he makes music the ultimate goal is for his own truth to be revealed to himself. “And a lot of the time when I’m writing songs, I usually use music as a platform to get to a place inside of me that I wouldn’t be able to just talk to people or think about,” he said.
