Rakim Mayers, known as A$AP Rocky, 33, was seen leaving the Los Angeles Police Department headquarters in the United States on Wednesday afternoon (20). The artist had been detained at Los Angeles International Airport, and his arrest was linked to a shooting that took place in November 2021.
According to the website ET Online, the boyfriend of the singer Rihanna, 34, paid the bail of US$ 550 thousand, which is equivalent to about R$ 2.5 million at the current price, and left the place in a black SUV. The rapper had just arrived on a private plane from Barbados where he was on vacation.
Mayers’ own attorney, Alan Jackson, confirmed that the artist was arrested. The singer was being investigated by LAPD over an exchange of fire that took place near Vista Del Mar and Selma Ave on the night of November 6 last year.
The victim told police he saw the rapper walking with two other people, before approaching her on the street and shooting three to four times. One of the bullets would have grazed his left hand. At the time, the shooting had not been reported in the press.
Earlier, in 2019, Mayers was arrested in Sweden after a street fight. The victim of the assault was a 19-year-old Afghan. The rapper was arrested for a month, and still paid about US$ 1,000, which is equivalent to R$ 4,622.
