Funk singer Jonathan Gomes de Araújo, known as MC Jotinha, 17, was shot dead on Tuesday (16) after trying to break up a fight in a bar in Duque de Caxias, Rio de Janeiro.
The death took place in front of his father, Jones de Araújo. To G1, he told more details of what happened. “He was at forró and I went there to call him home. He hugged me, told me he loved me and would stay with me until the last day of his life. That’s when the confusion started next to us, with his friends, and he went to separate,” he said.
As a result, says the father, on impulse he decided to go after whoever had shot the young man. “I went blind with my son covered in blood on his head. When I went to the person who shot him, he aimed the gun to shoot too, but they held him back,” he added.
On the website, the Military Police reported that a team from the 15th BPM (Duque de Caxias) was called for an incident that took place on Darcy Vargas Street, in the Pilar neighborhood. Jotinha was already lifeless when the teams arrived. The expertise has already been triggered. There is no information on arrests.
The Master Gold producer who took care of the musician’s career lamented through social media. “The Master Gold family informs, with sadness and regret, the death of the artist Jonathan Gomes de Araújo, known to everyone as MC Jotinha. The company is in mourning, along with the artist’s family,” he posted.
On Instagram, Jotinha had almost 5,000 followers and owned hits like “Kika once, Kika again” and “Poxa vida huh, uool” in partnership with MC Roba Cena.
