Dony De Nuccio undergoes new spine surgery: ‘I spent half my life in pain’

by

Presenter Dony De Nuccio, 37, had to undergo his third spinal surgery in two years to treat a herniated disc that has been with him since he was 16.

In a direct click from the hospital, he said he is fine and celebrated new life. “I spent more than half my life in pain from a herniated disc that erupted at 16 and plagued me for the next 21 years,” he said.

Now, he celebrates a new chapter after the procedure. “What makes me more excited: if with pain it was possible to do so much, imagine now with new gear,” he wrote.

In March, he said he felt the worst pain of his life and had to undergo spinal surgery. He extracted an extrusion of the L5-S1 intervertebral disc that was putting pressure on the spinal nerves and preventing him from doing basic activities.

On video, he explained that the operation would only take 40 minutes, but it took more than three hours. “The hernia I have was with a lot of content out, compressing the nerves much more than I expected. We need to open and take out this piece that was giving surreal pain”, he explained.

“Arriving at the hospital, the two doses of morphine in the vein didn’t even tickle. And the flight plan was recalculated to open and extract that stubborn part of the disc that insisted on settling where it shouldn’t,” he said.

In February, the presenter shared on social media the birth of his first child with Larissa Laibida, at Mercy Hospital, in Miami, in the United States. He posted two photos of Leo Oliveira De Nuccio on Instagram.

In the photo’s caption, the presenter wrote: “Hi guys! I’m here”. Several celebrities congratulated the couple and commented that the baby is beautiful.
