Singer Zeca Pagodinho said in the early hours of Sunday (24) that Brazilians have to speak out so that the country does not continue ‘the way it is’.
“I don’t want to leave here, but the way it is, I think about leaving”, he said during the break of his show at Camarote Bar Brahma, at Sambadrome do Anhembi, in São Paulo.
The singer praised the São Paulo Carnival, but admitted to missing Rio de Janeiro. “São Paulo is a joy, a beauty, it always has been. I debuted here at Casa Verde, where my name exploded”, he recalls.
Asked about the demonstrations by revelers in the stands and in the box at Sapucaí, in Rio – who asked for “Out, Bolsonaro” and cursed former President Lula (PT), respectively –, Zeca said he was not aware of the episode. But he said that each one must choose how to use Carnival. “I use Carnival to play, sing, drink. Everyone has a way of enjoying themselves”, he said.
In March of this year, Zeca met with Lula and a group of artists in Rio de Janeiro. On the occasion, shouts of “hello, olê, olê, olá, Lula, Lula” were chanted.
Recently, in an interview with F5, he stated that he only meets with PT during election season. “He called me when my dad died, he called me again on my birthday,” he said.
He denied phoning the ex-mandatory on his own. “I don’t have his number. I don’t have much to talk to him about either, we like to drink beer together. Lula still hasn’t been to my bar, but he said he wants to go,” he said.
